SQL Server DBA – SQL Server 2005/2008, Agile, Oracle 9i-11gr2, Database Design

Leading Technology Company has an urgent need to recruit a highly experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join the Development team. The SQL Server Database Administrator will be required to optimise database servers to achieve high availability and performance across a number of business applications.

You will work on both SQL Server and Oracle Databases, although the primary focus is SQL Server (SQL Server 80%, Oracle 20%). You will participate in the design and review of new database systems and related application deployments for my client's main systems and coordinate with infrastructure support and business managers to ensure availability, reliability and scalability of database systems.
You will also troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, define and perform system backups and define and implement strategies for improving the performance and availability of database driven applications.

As the ideal candidate, you have proven experience working in a similar leading SQL Server Database Administrator position with specific knowledge of MS SQL 2005 and MS SQL 2008. Experience with Oracle 9i – 11gr2 is also required. You will also possess experience installing, configuring and maintaining databases and related database applications. A strong knowledge of database design is required as well as strong familiarity with DNS and TCP/IP networking. Preferred candidate will possess experience working in an Agile team-oriented collaborative environment.
